BBWAA Gets a Little Less Stupid

Apparently, Rob Neyer has been asked to join the BBWAA. I’m about as big a Neyer fan as you’ll find, so I’m duly excited. It’s high time the writers started to accept what everyone else has known for a long time. Namely, the game and its analysis has changed. Rob Neyer has consistently been one of the funniest and most insightful baseball writers of my lifetime. I’m stoked that he’ll finally get to vote for the MVP and the Hall of Fame.

With the inclusion of first Keith Law, and now Rob Neyer, the BBWAA is not only getting smarter in terms of its combined intelligence, but they’ve also realized that if they don’t start reaching out to web-only writers, there won’t be very many people left in a few years. So, congratulations to Mr. Neyer. Hopefully we’ll see Bert Blyleven and Tim Raines in the Hall of Fame before too long as well.
